Report: Rich Homie Quan Dead at 34

It has been reported by PageSix that rapper Rich Homie Quan has passed away.

What We Know:

  • On Thursday, sources close to Quan’s family and from Fulton County confirmed his death, which occurred at his residence in Atlanta. At the time of his passing, he was 34 years old, though details regarding the cause of death have not been disclosed.
  • Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, first gained major attention with his 2013 hit “Type of Way” which made it onto the Billboard Hot 100. Prior to this, he had released a couple of mixtapes including 2012’s “I Go in on Every Song” and “Still Goin In,” the latter of which was reissued as a Reloaded edition in 2013, helping to catapult “Type of Way” to reach No. 50 on the Hot 100 charts. It also spawned a remix featuring Jeezy and Meek Mill.
  • By 2015, Quan’s reach had further expanded with “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” climbing to No. 26 on the Hot 100,. This track was part of his mixtape “If You Ever Think I Will Stop Goin’ In Ask RR.”
  • In 2018, Quan released “Rich as in Spirit,” his debut studio album under Motown, noteworthy for its minimal features except for a collaboration with Rick Ross on the track “Think About It.” Quan was also significantly involved with the Cash Money supergroup Rich Gang alongside Young Thug, contributing to notable tracks such as Travis Scott’s “Mamacita” and Gucci Mane’s “Chasin Paper.” Recently, Quan was mentioned during Young Thug’s extensive YSL RICO trial in Georgia.

Following the report of his untimely death, tributes began to pour in. Among them, Boosie Badazz expressed his sorrow, recalling a recent conversation with Quan and remarking that he would always remember Quan’s infectious smile and his music.
